As Rector, I would like to welcome you to the University of Glasgow. To be part of this great University with such a fine record of achievement and a future vibrant with hope and opportunity is indeed a great privilege for us all.

It was a great honour for me when I was elected by the students earlier this year. As I stood in the magnificient Bute Hall and delivered my Rectorial address. I felt a great sense of pride and achievement - and today you should feel the same. Even the customary flour bombs (they all missed) at my inauguration only added to the excitement of the day.

Rektörünüz olarak size Glasgow Üniversite’ne hoşgeldiniz diyorum. Bu kadar üstün başarılı bir geçmişi ile ümit ve fırsatlarla parıldayan bir geleceği olan bu büyük Üniversite’nin mensupları olmak hepimiz için büyük bir ayrıcalıktır.

Bu yılın Mayıs’ında öğrenciler tarafından seçilmekle büyük onur duydum. Muhteşem Bute Hall’un kürsüsünden Rektörlük hitabımı yaparken nasıl büyük bir gurur ve başarılı duygusu yaşadıysam, bugün sizler de aynı duyguları yaşıyor olmalısınız. Rektörlük görevime başlama merasimindeki, hiçbiri hedefini bulmayan geleneksel “un bombaları” da günün heyecanını artırmıştır.
